Spicy Cajun Shrimp Tacos with Caper Slaw

Ingredients

For Shrimp

  • 40 Medium Shrimp (peeled, deveined)
  • 1/4 c. Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp. Bayou Basics

For Caper Slaw

  • 14 oz. Coleslaw Mix
  • 1/2 c. White Lightning
  • 2 oz. Capers (with juice)
  • 1/2 Red Onion (julienned)
  • 3 Garlic Cloves Minced

For The Tacos

  • Street Taco Tortillas (corn)

Instructions

For Slaw

  1. Add all ingredients into bowl, mix until evenly incorporated.
  2. Cover and rest in fridge.

For Shrimp

  1. Place Shrimp into mixing bowl. Add Lemon Juice. Let marinade for 20 minutes.
  2. Drain, dry, and season with Bayou Basics
  3. In Cast Iron turned to medium-high, add 1 tbsp. Oil and cook Shrimp in small batches (about 10 per batch)

The Taco

  1. Heat Tortillas up in pan with small amount of Oil.
  2. Place Shrimp (about 3 per taco) then slaw.
  3. Each all of them!

Notes

  • Add your favorite vinegar based hot sauce to really take these to a Louisiana level
  • Shrimp cook QUICK! Be ready to pull them off the pan. You don't want to be chewing rubber

Common Questions

1. I don't like capers. What can I replace them with?

I would take the capers out of the slaw and add a couple tbsp of apple cider vinegar for a more classic slaw.
